The first teaser trailer for Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of Aladdin was released earlier this month and it featured newcomer Mena Massoud. He may only appear on the screen for a few seconds, it was exciting to see the actor in the title role.
The trailer gives us a bird’s eye view of Agrabah, the fictional city where the story is set, as a parrot soars overhead, who is presumably Iago. While this is happening, the instrumental versions of “Arabian Nights” and “Friend Like Me” from the original film’s soundtrack play in the background. Then we then get a look at The Cave of Wonders, the tiger’s mouth and features an outline of Jafar standing outside. Aladdin is disappearing inside the cave while a voice saying the famous words “Only one may enter here…one whose worth lies far within…the diamond in the rough”. In the last moments of the teaser, we are introduced to Mena Massoud as Aladdin amidst a cavern full of treasures inside the Cave of Wonders, slowly reaching for the magic lamp.
We have only introduced to one main character up close, not including the outline of Jafar, but hopefully in the next trailer, we will be introduced to more of the main cast in their respected roles.
